From Grit to Growth: Lessons that Inspired Circle 4 Marketing

Updated: Jan 14

Hi! I’m Ellen, and I’m so glad you’re here. I launched Circle 4 Marketing with a clear belief: marketing doesn't have to be chaotic or messy—and it's absolutely possible to achieve short-term wins without losing sight of your long-term goals.

For 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping businesses of all sizes and across diverse industries transform scattered marketing efforts into unified strategies that deliver sustainable results. My journey began in 1998 when I moved to Atlanta, driven by a commitment to community-building in the non-profit sector. I soon recognized the profound impact healthy businesses have on communities at every level, which inspired me to expand my professional experience into retail, hospitality, and the SaaS/tech industries. However, my 11+ years as a restaurant marketer truly shaped my approach to marketing and business.

In restaurants, where margins are razor-thin and time is always short, I learned how to make every dollar—and every minute—count. We partnered with top-tier, global brands and launched bold national campaigns, all while working with small budgets, tight deadlines, and ever-changing market conditions. We used to joke, "it's just beer and burgers." After all, we weren't saving lives. However, the intense pressure never let up. Through each large-scale event, seasonal menu roll out and store opening, I learned that sustainable success isn’t about spending more or even having more—it’s about good systems and knowing how to use what you’ve got.

Lessons that Inspired Circle 4 Marketing

Launching new marketing activities can drive quick wins and fast growth, and that's a good thing. But the day-to-day pressures of running a business often trap us in a reactive marketing loop, straining resources and morale, while the customer experience and partner relationships take a back seat. At Circle 4 Marketing, I wanted to offer my clients a fresh perspective. Whether it’s upcycling content, launching partnerships, or optimizing the online customer experience, my primary goal is to help business owners understand their capacity for growth through the lens of a healthy marketing ecosystem.

That’s why I developed my 4-Pillar Marketing Methodology—a simple yet effective approach to building sustainable systems:

4 pillar marketing methodology
  1. Audit: Gain clarity first on what’s working, what’s not, and what’s possible.

  2. Simplify: Declutter, upcycle, and focus on the most impactful marketing activities.

  3. Align: Optimize and integrate your marketing efforts.

  4. Sustain: Build systems that grow with your business without burning you out.

By balancing fresh ideas with disciplined execution, I help transform overlooked assets into powerful growth drivers.

Stop the Reactive Marketing Loop

I’m not just here to develop strategies or launch marketing campaigns; I’m here to empower you to take control of your marketing ecosystem. I know firsthand that time is your most valuable resource, so I've created stand-alone services like Empower Hour and Marketing Audit to give you clarity and actionable steps fast:

  • Empower Hour: In a hyper-focused session, we’ll cut through the clutter, tackle your biggest roadblock, and prioritize your most impactful marketing efforts.

  • Marketing Audit: An in-depth assessment to reveal the health of your marketing ecosystem, uncovering untapped potential and your true capacity for growth before you invest in any new activities.

What sets Circle 4 Marketing apart?

I’m a generalist who loves asking tough “what if” questions and finding scalable solutions. I’ve been in the trenches, juggling competing priorities, tight deadlines, and limited budgets. I know what it’s like to want big results without sacrificing your sanity—or your team’s morale.

Here’s what I believe:

  • Less chaos, more clarity. Simple, aligned systems can unlock exponential growth.

  • Sustainability wins. Marketing should grow with your capacity, not against it.

  • Relationships matter. From customers to partners to vendors, every touchpoint counts.

Whether you’re looking for a quick win or a cohesive, long-term strategy, I’m here to help you aim for sustainable growth by simplifying and aligning your marketing efforts.
